“Children of Giant”

Although Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean were the star attractions of the movie “Giant” – the social comment by the writer of the novel, Edna Ferber was ahead of its time. The writer lived with the family of Dr. Hector Garcia, founder of the American GI Forum for one week. She had heard of the way the Mexican American in Texas was treated at the time. She insisted on the inclusion of Mexicans and the Hispanic soldier going off to war. This is a 90-minute video.
