Event Details

Tweens and teens, ages 8 and up, are invited to join us after-school to learn more about science, technology, engineering, math and art on the following dates. Once a month, this program will feature one main project as well as multiple STEAM stations including: LEGO, Marble Run, Snap Circuits, tech take-apart and the chance to print using our 3D printer.

STEAM programs are at 3pm on the following Wednesdays this winter:

  • January 10th, 2024
  • February 28th, 2024: Extracting Strawberry DNA
    • Have you ever wondered how scientists get a sample of DNA from a plant, animal, or other organism? All living organisms have DNA. In this activity, you will make your own DNA extraction kit from household chemicals and use it to extract DNA from strawberries. In Celebration of Black History Month, we will also learn about Henrietta Lacks, who was an African-American woman whose cancer cells are the source of the HeLa cell line, the first immortalized human cell line and one of the most important cell lines in medical research.
  • March 27th, 2024
