Families are welcome to come learn about the real-life historical contributions of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, African-American women who were employed at NASA to process aeronautic data in the Space Race era.

This will be followed by a screening of the 2016 film Hidden Figures (PG), based on the true story and non-fiction novel (of the same name) of these three women by Margot Lee Shetterly. The movie will be accompanied by a spaceship craft (while supplies lasts) and snacks will be provided.

Movie plot summary: "Three brilliant African-American women at NASA -- Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson -- serve as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation's confidence, turned around the Space Race and galvanized the world."
