"Storytelling is for Adults, Too"

Stories! Art! Music! Laughter! We have a special treat for you during the holidays as we welcome storyteller and teaching artist, Joyce Slater. She will not only tell us about storytelling and how it has meaning for her and for us, but she has also provided the following description for our time together on December 3.

"Our personal stories share not only our lives, but they share a part of history.  I will share a personal story of my past and invite the audience members to share their stories.  When a story is told, it reminds the listeners of a similar event in their own lives.  Stories connect us to our neighbors and to the world."

Our presenter, Joyce Slater, has led audiences since 1996 on a magic path through the realm of folktales, fairy tales, ghost stories, personal narratives, historical interpretations and more. She is listed on the Mid America Arts Alliance Touring Roster and the Missouri Arts Council Roster. Joyce is the President of Missouri Storytelling, Inc. She is also the former Executive Director of the River and Prairie Storyweavers and the Artistic Director of the KC Storytelling Celebration. She is the recipient of two Oracle Awards from the National Storytelling Network.
