Chris Garcia's sculptures are made from clay that he harvests directly from the earth. He uses clay known as earthenware, which contains both iron and organic and material impurities, and has a lower maturity temperature than commercial clay. After firing, it turns from a yellow to red color.
See Garcia's work on display at West Wyandotte Library through the end of October.
